BC Conservative leadership hopeful visits Port Alberni to talk crime and health care

One of the six people in the running to become the leader of B.C.’s official opposition was in Port Alberni on April 7 to meet potential voters.

Peter Milobar, MLA for Kamloops Centre, is the only sitting MLA in the leadership race. He hosted a meet and greet at Steampunk Cafe and then a town hall event at the Best Western Barclay Hotel which focused on crime and health.

“It’s always best to go to towns and areas and find out from people on the issues most pressing to them. There’s always so many issues you can’t cover them all,” Milobar said after the meet and greet. “I did a town hall in Smithers not too long ago and it was basically on the budget and things like that so (I) try to model them more around pertinent issues in the community at any given time.”
