As a locomotive engineer, union executive and former BC Conservative candidate in Port Coquitlam, I’ve seen what leadership looks like on the ground.
British Columbia is at a crossroads and, here in the Tri-Cities, people are feeling the pressure of the rising cost of living, stretched services and the impact of years of large deficit budgets and rising provincial debt.
What we need now is steady, credible leadership with a message of hope, prosperity and practical solutions.
That’s why we’re supporting Peter Milobar.
His resume is strong: successful small business owner, community sports coach, city councillor, three-term mayor of Kamloops, three-term MLA and now shadow minister of finance. He understands how government works at every level and what it takes to deliver results.
More importantly, he offers a clear plan to protect property rights, restore fiscal responsibility and invest in communities in ways that strengthen families and working people.
But what matters most to me personally is the kind of person he is.
I first met Peter at a Tri-Cities youth event. He listened, explained how government works and encouraged young people to get involved. That conversation inspired me to step forward and he reminded me that we need younger voices and working people in leadership, not just on the sidelines.
He didn’t just say it — he showed it.
When I hosted my first event in at the Arms Pub, Peter drove from Kamloops to support me.
When I faced a heckler, he stood beside me and said, “We hear you, but Keenan is doing this for the right reasons.”
Afterward, he reminded me that leadership also means engaging directly, which led to a handshake with that person — a lesson in listening and collaboration that Peter practices every day.
